Apple tree grafts

We had real good luck grafting this year... the weather was wet and cool.

I use the cleft graft method on apple trees because its easy.  After inserting the scion wood into the verticle cut in the root stock, I wrap the area with rubber tape to keep it from moving in the wind.

Notice the blooms on this graft... if the branch had been left with the donor tree it would have produced apples this year.
