Our farm has a new addition

Susie our milk cow had her 1st calf...  Of course getting her in the mood for milking is a chore at 1st so we dodge her widow makers and persevere!   As you can see its a family affair.

Getting the field plowed

Jed and I started plowing our field today with a old two bottom plow... the soil was loose so the horses could pull it if you cheated a little on the furrow so they were only plowing with one bottom.   I drove and Jed operated it by pulling a strap which would engage a cog on the steel wheel that would lift it or drop down the plow bottoms.

We stopped when the back wheel feel off...  my dad told me years ago that those old plows didn't like to be greased and he was right.

The new earth is manifesting itself!

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them."

Well its a good start anyway! The colt enjoys the cat sharpening her claws.
